Olwen's Return is a metheglin type mead made with ginger, lemon zest and clover honey. Olwen was associated with Ostara (spring time) and renewal.

Morrigan's Favor is a sweet and spicy mead made with concord grape, ginger, winter spices and wildflower honey.
This recipe won the 2019 Gold medal for the "fruit-spice" category at the 2019 GIBCMSC.

Dirty Girls is a light mead made with star anise and wildflower honey. It was inspired by a few "saucy ladies" of ill repute and since won the 2019 Bronze medal in the spiced mead category the GIBCMSC.

Click-Click-Dunne is an Ale Mead. Made with oranges, honey and hops, this mead has a crisp Double India Pale Ale-like character with the golden beauty of a fine mead. This is a mead and not a braggot.

A little information for the curious mead lover
From simple recipes to complex flavor combinations
Barrett's Legacy Mead is committed to bringing you the best meads using recipes and techniques from very old family practices, and a few newer, handed down through the ages with a few developed along the way.
What makes a superior mead?
- Time is one very important ingredient. Only time can unlock the full body, aroma and flavor of a good honey. No mead should be served before it reaches its full potential.
- Real ingredients, not "flavors", make a very big difference in a finished mead. Extracts and flavors are just that and they don't carry the same character of their original nature.
- A good mead recipe is built upon the ingredients that make it what it is. Too much of anything can alter the flavor or aroma of a mead in a way that will take away from the profile leaving you with something less than what it could have been.
Balance is key
Regardless of what your favorite type of mead is, balance is important to enhance flavors in a way that they are not competing. If you've ever had a truly well balanced mead you will easily detect a mead that was hurried along for a "quick sale".
Clarity
The flavor and body of a mead can be fully realized when it has been allowed to completely clear naturally. This lets you truly enjoy the honey profile as nature intended it. Filtering can take away from the body of a good mead leaving it somewhat thin.
Aroma
Some honey variants have a very distinct aroma profile that, when properly preserved, will enhance the overall character of a mead.
All Natural
All natural means just that. We don't use sulfites to hurry the mead to completion or force filter for clarity. Letting nature take its course is sometimes the best approach.
